WEB DESIGN / CONTENT CREATION – IN HOUSE DESIGNER – 2017/2018
Worldwide Holidays is a luxury tour operator based in the UK with offices in Bournemouth and the Head Office owned by the sister company in London. The travel operator specialises in luxurious travel packages tailored to the users requirements and destination desires.

WHAT I DID 

WEB DESIGN & CONTENT CREATION

WORDPRESS / INSTAGRAM & FACEBOOK MARKETING / PHOTOSHOP

I was initially hired by WorldWide Holidays to assist with the change over from the original web design to the new WordPress operated design.

The main objectives where to take the content and input the content into the appropriate sections within the new CMS structure.

Throughout the task, I recognised out of date information and areas for improvement to modernise and simplify the outdated content. I also noticed that there was no social media presence.

These issues lead me to tasking upon a further task of sourcing new imagery and up to date information from each particular destination – from online research to contacting clients and creating new pages and design layouts to display the content.

I also set up Social Media platforms, created content and scheduled posts in addition to assisting the graphic designer with print design and marketing.
RESEARCH & CONTENT SOURCING

I researched into the main competing tour operators/travel businesses in order to gather a competitive understanding of this type of area within the travel industry.

It was clear that bold, bright and high spec imagery was of high importance to grasp the users attention, as well as simplified up to date travel information. The information must be engaging yet clear and informative.

I utilised the research and competitor analysation to ensure that WorldWide Holidays obtained these factors. I did this by sourcing high quality content from clients, past customers and connections the business has within the industry. I ensured that all content was up to date and sourced new information where applicable.
WEB DESIGN

Working alongside an outsourced Web Designer, I assisted with the creation of the web design layout, colour scheme and fonts. As I was working in house, communication between the business owner and the outsourced team member was primarily my responsibility, which meant that feedback from each party had to be communicated appropriately and taken onboard in order for the necessary changes to be made and incorporated to finalise the overall web design. WordPress was used to build and host the website, using the Sydney theme and various Plugins, a successful modern design was created.

SOCIAL MEDIA


I identified that the business did not have social media set up efficiently, and communicated this with the director which lead to me creating the Facebook and Instagram and set up a scheduling system for posts using Hootsuite. I initially started to post the images with specific hashtags and marketing content through Facebook and Instagram marketing tools to target the preferred audiences. One of the specific marketing posts won the company an award for the ‘most cruises booked’ for a special discount. After the website was complete, the Social Media was taken over by the business owner.
